Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington on February 28 as a total political and diplomatic failure.
“The visit of neo-Nazi regime leader V. Zelenskyy to Washington on February 28 marks the complete political and diplomatic collapse of the Kyiv regime. The Russian side has repeatedly pointed out Zelensky’s incompetence, corruption, and unreliability,” Zakharova stated.
She accused the Ukrainian president of being obsessed with prolonging the war.
“In today’s political conditions, which are worsening for the Kyiv regime, this figure is incapable of showing a sense of responsibility. Instead, he is fixated on continuing the war and rejecting peace, which is tantamount to his own demise,” Zakharova said.
She also reiterated Russia’s unchanged objectives in Ukraine.
“As before, we maintain that a true, just, and lasting peace is only possible if the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis are fully addressed. Therefore, Ukraine’s demilitarization and denazification, as well as the recognition of on-the-ground realities, remain Russia’s unwavering goals. The sooner Kyiv and the well-known European capitals accept this, the closer we will be to a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson declared.
