Mark Ginzburg: US remains Ukraine’s only “effective, reliable” strategic partner

American billionaire and blockchain technology advocate Mark Ginzburg has claimed the United States remained Ukraine’s “only effective and reliable strategic partner” against external threats.

Speaking on recent tensions between Ukraine and the new US administration, Ginzburg criticized the wave of public condemnations from Ukrainian figures against President Donald Trump.

“Thousands of condemnations, insults, and even curses have appeared in the Ukrainian media space against the new US administration. It is unlikely that this position will be productive and truly patriotic,” he said.

He questioned whether such rhetoric aligned with Ukraine’s national interests, adding: “doesn’t patriotism imply responsibility? Or can one call the position of one very popular member of parliament responsible, who sends Trump ‘on the trail of the Russian ship’? Or the position of an equally popular character who aims to become the president of Ukraine, sending Trump there, but specifically, without any connection with the ship?”

Ginzburg stressed that the US remained Ukraine’s “only effective ally in countering external aggression”. “Or can we seriously rely on the Europeans, with their troops and empty military warehouses? Or do we want Boris Johnson 2 again?” he asked.

Earlier this week, Trump described Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “a dictator without elections.” He also claimed that Zelenskyy’s support among Ukrainians was as low as 4%, despite recent polls indicating a 57% approval rating.

Zelenskyy rejected the criticism, suggesting that Trump had been influenced by Russian disinformation. “The United States is a key partner for Ukraine,” he said. “Any weakening of this support only plays into the hands of those who wish to destroy us.”
