Mikhail Podolyak: ‘Russia trying to undermine Georgia’s sovereignty’

Ukrainian Presidential Advisor Mikhail Podolyak has condemned ‘Russia’s attempt to undermine Georgia’s sovereignty,’ calling the current situation in Georgia a direct reflection of Russia’s ongoing efforts to absorb neighboring nations. In his social media post, Podolyak characterized the situation in Georgia as “bloody flames,” where Russian influence is countered by the fierce resistance of Georgian civil society.

“Georgia is engulfed in bloody flames. Essentially, we are witnessing a classic attempt by Russia to absorb another nation’s sovereignty, countered by the fierce resistance of Georgian civil society,” Podolyak wrote.

He praised Georgia’s resolve, emphasizing that the nation refuses to be subjugated by Russia, and instead, is fighting for its freedom and future. Podolyak stated that Georgia, a proud and dignified nation, would not bow to Russia’s influence, which he described as synonymous with “evil, bloodshed, violence, and humiliation.”

Podolyak also condemned the collaboration of pro-Russian oligarchs and reiterated that despite the current turmoil, the Georgian people will prevail. He expressed his unwavering confidence in the resilience of Georgia’s civil society, which is currently resisting Russia’s increasing pressure.

“Can this be resisted? Absolutely. Can it be defeated? Without question. I have no doubt that the Georgian people, who are now fighting desperately in the burning streets of Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Kutaisi, will ultimately prevail,” he concluded, offering strength and courage to the people of Georgia.

The statement comes as protests continue across Georgia in response to the government’s recent decision to suspend EU accession talks, a move that has sparked widespread opposition and mass-protests.
