Moldova summons Georgian diplomat over PM Kobakhidze’s election comments

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova has summoned Georgia’s temporary representative, Davit Bochorishvili, following comments made by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze regarding Moldova’s recent elections.

In a statement, the Moldovan authorities expressed “deep dissatisfaction” with the way Kobakhidze publicly addressed Moldova’s European integration and the integrity of its election process.

Kobakhidze, speaking on November 7, referred to alleged violations in Georgia’s parliamentary elections, claiming that “if there were problems in the elections, it was in Moldova.”

This remark, according to the Moldovan Ministry, was seen as “inappropriate and distorted”, particularly given the sensitive context of Moldova’s democratic reforms and ongoing efforts toward European integration.
