The National Democratic Institute (NDI) has launched a long-term assessment mission for Georgia’s parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26, the organization said on Wednesday.
NDI’s long-term assessment team consists of five analysts, the head of the mission, and their assistants. The team arrived in Tbilisi during the week of July 22 and will remain in Georgia through November. Their focus will be on various thematic issues related to the elections, including the election campaign process, election administration, media and information environment, as well as gender and inclusion issues.
The team will also meet with a range of stakeholders, including government and election administration representatives, ruling party and opposition political parties, civil society organizations, local monitoring organizations, and representatives from both the public broadcaster and private media.
This mission continues NDI’s pre-election assessment efforts and is part of a broader international election observation program for the 2024 parliamentary elections. Over the coming months, NDI plans to actively engage in strengthening electoral processes. The findings of the long-term analysts will inform the development of their recommendations.
NDI emphasized that the long-term evaluation mission will conduct its activities impartially and professionally, adhering to the legislation of Georgia and the Declaration on the Principles of International Observation of Elections.
