21-year-old soldier commits suicide in Senaki military base

A first-class soldier, 21-year-old Jaba Akhalaia has committed suicide in Senaki military base of western Georgia which was recorded by a surveillance camera, the Georgian Defence Ministry confirmed earlier today.

The ministry said that the soldier committed suicide with his own automatic firearm, and that no one expect him was present at the scene.

“The Ministry of Defense expresses its sorrow over the tragic incident and extends its condolences to the family of the deceased soldier,” said the ministry.

Motive behind the incident has not been identified.
