Police in Batumi have arrested a Ukrainian citizen, born in 2006, on charges of illegal possession and facilitation of distribution of a large quantity of narcotic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out jointly by officers of the Patrol Police Department’s Adjara Main Division and the Investigation Service of the same department.

The suspect, identified as D.I., was stopped by patrol officers while walking in Batumi for an identity check. During a personal search, law enforcement officers seized 15 packages of the narcotic substance tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), allegedly prepared for sale.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 260¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which prescribe imprisonment ranging from 20 years to life.
