Georgian parliament chair calls on int’l community to take ‘firm steps’ to stop Russia in Ukraine

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has called on the international community to “take effective and firm steps to stop Russia escalating into a full-scale conflict in Ukraine and ensure the protection of international norms.” 


“We stand with Ukraine in these difficult times,” Papuashvili has tweeted. 


Russia announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine later yesterday, shortly after recognizing Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions as independent states. 


The world leaders are scheduled today to respond to the invasion with additional sanctions. 


The claim that the response will be ‘devastating and decisive.’
