Two convicted in high-profile murder case of 22-year-old Georgian social media founder

Both suspects have been found guilty today in a premeditated murder and illegal possession of firearms in the high-profile murder case of 22 year-old Nika Kvaratskhelia, a founder of Georgian social media Feedc, who was attacked near his home on Anjaparidze Street on September 15, 2021.

Ako Chelidze was sentenced to 17 years and Giorgi Kaviladze to 16 years by a Tbilisi City court judge earlier today.

The convicts fired 10 gunshots at Kvaratskhelia.

Father’s activity was initially named as a motive behind the murder.

However, Kvaratskhelia’s family said that the murder could also be connected with the killed young man’s job.

Kvaratskhelia’s mother has told journalists that she expected the verdict, expressing hope that the convicts would think of what they had committed and become better.

The convicts were arrested after a month from commiting the crime in Tskneti, near Tbilisi.
