The Georgian parliamentary opposition Lelo has come out with a legal initiative to ban the use of symbols of Russia's aggressive policy - ribbon of St. George, as well as  Z and V.

“Today, as the free world is fighting Russia in Ukraine to protect freedom, democracy, and Ukrainian sovereignty, we all understand that all attempts to justify propaganda messages and propaganda symbols are against Georgian interests as well. That is why we believe that the use of symbols of Russian aggression should become punishable in the country,” Salome Samadashvili stated today along with other MPs of the party.

Irakli Kadagishvili, Chairman of the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules from the ruling party has responded that the initiative is “very unclear” as V and Z are latin letters and that the symbols of Russian aggression are not used in Georgia.

“In our alphabet Z and V are of different shapes.Should we never let the movie Zorro or what are demanding?” Kadagishvili said.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

Hostilities have been in progress since then.
