PM Garibashvili: adoption of Georgia Support Act in US advances “robust strategic ties”

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili has welcomed the adoption of Georgia Support Act by the US House of Representatives and said earlier today that the move “reaffirms strength and advances robust US-Georgia strategic partnership.”

In his tweet Garibashvili expressed gratitude to the initiators of the bill, Congressman Gerry Connolly and Adam Kinzinger.

The document has reiterated the US support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the country choice for the EU and NATO.

It also condemned the Russian occupation of Georgian territories and various illegal actions by the occupier in and near the Georgian Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.

The bill said that Georgian IDPs should return to their homes, and that Russia should withdraw its forces from Georgian territory.
