Georgian PM “devastated to hear” about deadly shooting in Texas school

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili said on Wednesday that he was “devastated” to hear news about the recent deadly shooting in the Texas elementary school in the US, leaving 21 killed by a 18-year-old gunman.

“We are devastated to hear news about the terrible mass shooting in Uvalde elementary, Texas. Let me express our deepest condolences and sympathy on my and all Georgians' behalf to the families of deceased and injured. We stand together with American people in this time of grief,” Garibashvili tweeted.

US President Joe Biden called out the gun lobby and manufacturers shortly after the deadly incident on Tuesday, saying that it was “time to act.”

He stated that “if an 18-year-old can walk into a gun store and buy two assault weapons, it’s just wrong. What in God’s name do you need an assault weapon for except to kill someone? Deer aren’t running through the forests with kevlar vests on, for God’s sake. It’s just sick.”

The gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School which teaches children aged seven to 10.
