Man stabbing ex-wife in Tbilisi accuses her of child trafficking

Levan Aslanishvili, who stabbed his ex-wife Tamar Cheishvili in front of their underage child in Tbilisi on May 23, accused the latter of child trafficking on Wednesday “which pushed him to commit the crime.”

Aslanishvili said at a trial that years ago he checked his wife’s email and found “obscene correspondence with a number of men,” on Facebook.

“Yes, I committed the crime, but it had its grounds,” Aslanishvili told the judge.

The defendant, who is charged with premediated murder, was denied bail.

The injured woman is undergoing treatment in a clinic in the Georgian capital.
