Brother Kakulia arrested on attempted murder charges denied bail

Guga and Davit Kakulia, who were arrested last month for attempted murder of Sergi Kurtiashvili on Arakishvili Street in Tbilisi, illegal purchase, storage, carrying of firearms and ammunition, as well as illegal border crossing, were denied bail by Tbilisi City Court on Wednesday. 
If found guilty the brother may be sentenced up to 17 years in prison.

 

Police are also looking into an alleged connection of the brother with a high-profile murder case of Nika Kvaratskhelia last year. 

 

Ako Chelidze and Giorgi Kaviladze were found guilty of premeditated murder of Kvaratskhelia, as well as of illegal purchase, possession and carrying of firearms in April 2022 and were sentenced to 16 and 17 years in prsion. 

 

The convicts fired 10 gunshots at Kvaratskhelia,22, on September 15, 2021. 

 

The family of Kvaratskhelia said that those who ordered the murder could walk free.
