One former public servant, five others charged with fraud

The employees of the investigative service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have launched criminal prosecution against six individuals, one of whom is a former civil servant, on the facts of fraudulent acquisition of a large amount of state property and forging  documents.

 

The ministry said on Monday that defendants, in 2021, in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, fraudulently registered two plots of land, sized 2,256 m2, worth 309,576 GEL, with the use of forged documents and with the help of a civil servant.

 

“The defendants also submitted false documents to the public registry for the purpose of registering five plots of land,” said the ministry.

 

The crime is punishable by six to nine years in prison.
