Kyiv on Russo-Georgian war anniversary: Russia should de-occupy Georgian territories

Russia should de-occupy the territories of Georgia and Ukraine, and the Russian war criminals should be held to the strictest responsibility, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in its statement dedicated to Russia’s war in Georgia 14 years ago.

The Ministry stressed that Russia’s  aggression against Georgia “did not lead to a proper reaction of the international community, which led to Russia’s “aggressive actions” against Ukraine in 2014 and a “full-scale war” on February 24, 2022.

“We are sure that the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation can be stopped through the joint efforts of the international community, strict adherence to the regime of sanctions against Russia and comprehensive support of the countries against which Moscow is carrying out aggression”, said the Ministry.

The Ministry emphasised that Ukraine “firmly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders”.
