Georgian Govt looks bad in its moves on Ukraine - Podolyak

Mykhailo Podolyak, the adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has criticised the Georgian Government’s position, moves and statements over Russia’s war in Ukraine, stressing that the Georgian Dream authorities would be “responsible for the country’s reputational damage”.

Speaking with Voice of America, Podolyak also said that “if necessary” Kyiv would present the evidence on Tbilisi’s support for Russia to circumvent international sanctions.

“I love Georgian people very much. These people have in their hearts what the Ukrainian people have - the desire for freedom. In the current situation, these people could not get an adequate political situation. The civilised world, with which I think the Georgian government is still willing to cooperate, evaluates this war unambiguously, sees its motives and says that Ukraine is the hero of this war. On the background of the war, the Georgian government is trying to humiliate the members of the Ukrainian resistance government, it looks bad”, Podolyak said.
He noted that the Georgian Dream authorities had refused to be clear about the war, which has caused Kyiv’s dissatisfaction.

Speaking about the evidence over the Georgian Dream Government's cooperation with Russia, Podolyak suggested that the proof could be provided via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Believe me, just like in Europe and America, we are all watching closely what these private businesses or companies that operate in different jurisdictions are doing. We are studying all this and if necessary, we will submit legal reports”, Podolyak said.
Responding to the statement, ruling party MP Anri Okhanashvili said that “I am not interested in the frivolous and absurd positions of people who are hostile to our country”.
