Greek theologian, philosopher Christos Yannaras awarded the honorary doctorate of New Georgian University

Christos Yannaras, the Greek theologian and philosopher, has been awarded the title of honorary doctorate of the New Georgian University, Metropolitan Grigol of Poti and Khobi announced during his sermon on Sunday. 
 

"These days we are visited by a Greek theologian and philosopher Christos Yannaras. You know that we frequently host people at the New Georgian University, who make a significant contribution to the development of Orthodox thought.
 

“Professor Yannaras is among such people. He devoted his whole life to the study of Orthodox thought and has achieved remarkable results on the path. 
 

“Nowadays we are in utmost need to deepen and develop intellectual relations with other countries and centers there, that is why we are cooperating with a number of international partners. The visit of Professor Yannaras is part of this process.
 

“It is our mission to introduce the rich Georgian culture and intellectual heritage to international academic circles, and to raise the awareness of the most important ideas of Christian thought in Georgia.
 

“Professor Yannaras is working on these ideas and his contribution to this work is great. That is why we awarded him the title of honorary doctorate of the New Georgian University; We congratulate him on this honorary title and we would like to add that this is a great honor for us, our university and our church as well," said Eminence Grigol.
