Czech FM visits Georgia

Czech foreign minister Jan Lipavsky is visiting Georgia amid his country’s chairmanship of the Council of the European Union. 

After a meeting in a foreign ministry office, Georgian minister Ilia Darchiashvili praised the visit as “important” amid Georgia’s bid for the EU’s membership candidate status. 

He also said that Georgia “is the EU’s one of the major allies” in the region. 

The officials discussed the Georgian government’s moves to meet the EU’s 12-point conditions to grant the country membership candidate status and bilateral cooperation. 

The FMs also discussed Russia-Ukraine conflict and challenges caused by the war, as well as the situation in Georgia’s Russian-controlled regions.
