Abkhaz de facto president says “military training” required

Aslan Bzhania, the de facto president of  Georgia’s Russian-controlled Abkhazia region, has spoken about the need for military training for the region’s “armed forces”.

"All necessary measures are taken by the government of the country to strengthen the military security of our homeland - increasing the level of mobilization readiness, providing the armed forces with additional weapons, special equipment, and material and technical support.

“We are taking all necessary measures to improve mobilization readiness. We acquire special weapons. We are in constant contact with our strategic partner and ensure the security of our country, our population", the de facto president said in his address to the population of the region this week.

A few weeks ago, Bzhania instructed the relevant de facto agencies to pre-evaluate Abkhazia's defense capability and develop recommendations.

According to reports there are 14 members in the interdepartmental working group.
