EU extends sanctions on Russia for 6 months

The Council of the European Union on Friday decided to extend restrictive measures against certain sectors of the Russian economy for six months,  until July 31, for its ongoing invasion against Ukraine.

Sanctions against Russia were first introduced in 2014 and significantly expanded after February 2022, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Sanctions currently cover a wide range of sectoral measures, including restrictions on trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury products.
