Russian human rights defender denied entry to Georgia

Dariana Gryaznova, the Russian human rights defender critical to the Kremlin, has been denied entry to Georgia, Mary Lawlor the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, tweeted on Tuesday, expressing her concerns.

Gryaznova moved to Tbilisi in 2021 due to security threats she faced in Russia for her activities.

Lawlor said the Russian activist had been denied entry “without any explanation or confirming documents”.

“I am very concerned this may be related to her human rights work and would like to see the documents explaining the reasons”, Lawlor said, tagging the UN representation in Georgia.

It is not for the first time critics of the Russian authorities had been denied entry to Georgia.
