Zelenskyy confident Ukraine, Moldova will become EU members

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday told press he was confident the European integration of Ukraine and Moldova would lead to the accession of both states to the bloc, at the meeting with his Moldovan counterpart on the sidelines of the ongoing European Political Community Summit in Chisinau.

In his comments Zelenskyy did not make a mention of Georgia, which also aspires for the bloc’s membership and officially applied for EU membership in March 2022, along with the duo, shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy thanked Maia Sandu for helping Ukrainian refugees and said “we stand side by side, and most importantly, our future is in the EU”.

"We talked about our European future, today Ukraine provides security for Moldova and we are very, very grateful for that," Sandu said.

Zelenskyy also said “Ukraine aspires to join NATO”.
