Georgia’s Education Minister Givi Mikanadze has held an introductory meeting with Turkey’s newly appointed ambassador to Georgia,Mustafa Türker Arı, to discuss bilateral cooperation in education, science and youth policy.

Mikanadze congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and said Georgia and Turkey had maintained productive cooperation for many years. He noted that the two countries were jointly implementing a number of important initiatives in the fields of education, science and youth affairs.

The minister also briefed the ambassador on ongoing large-scale reforms in Georgia’s education system, with particular focus on reforms in higher education.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed existing cooperation between the two countries and discussed prospects for expanding the partnership further.

Talks also covered the implementation of joint projects for young people. The ministry said a memorandum signed between Georgia’s Education Ministry and Turkey’s Ministry of Youth and Sports would help strengthen ties between young people in the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the ambassador thanked Mikanadze for hosting the talks and expressed readiness to further deepen constructive cooperation between Georgia and Turkey.
