Georgian parliamentary speaker begins official visit to China

The parliament said the trip marks the first official visit to China by a Georgian parliamentary speaker in the past 20 years

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has travelled to China on an official visit at the invitation of the chairman of China’s National People’s Congress.
According to the Georgian parliament’s press service, Papuashvili is expected to hold a series of high-level meetings during the visit.
The delegation led by the parliamentary speaker includes First Deputy Speaker Giorgi Volski, who also heads the Georgia-China parliamentary friendship group, Deputy Speakers Nino Tsilosani and Sozar Subari, Foreign Relations Committee Chair Nikoloz Samkharadze and Agriculture Committee Chair Gela Samkharauli.
The parliament said the trip marks the first official visit to China by a Georgian parliamentary speaker in the past 20 years.
