Tamazashvili outlined planned education reforms and stressed the importance of access to high-quality education

The Chairman of the Ajara Government, Sulkhаn Tamazashvili, has met with high-achieving students from across the region, awarding state scholarships to 150 students with outstanding academic performance at his initiative.

Speaking at the meeting, Tamazashvili outlined planned education reforms and stressed the importance of access to high-quality education. He announced that from next year the number of scholarship recipients will increase, while the amounts of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) scholarships and the Tariel Putkaradze scholarship will be doubled.

“Today you are young people who are exemplary in your studies, hard work and determination,” Tamazashvili said. “A state scholarship is not just a reward; it is recognition of your knowledge and a stimulus to pursue even greater goals. We consider the development of education a top priority and are committed to creating conditions where each of you can receive quality education in an environment that meets modern standards and develop professional skills. This is precisely the aim of the state’s education policy and the support programmes we are implementing and will continue to implement. I believe each of you will play an important role in the development of our country.”

During the event, Ajara’s Minister of Education and Sport, Maia Khajishvili, also addressed the students, speaking about new initiatives and programmes planned for the coming year.
