Three foreign citizens arrested in Tbilisi on drug trafficking charges

Police in Tbilisi have arrested three foreign nationals on separate occasions on charges of illegally possessing particularly large quantities of narcotic substances and facilitating their distribution, Georgia's Interior Ministry said.
Officers from the Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department seized 42 packages of narcotic substances prepared for sale during personal searches of the suspects and searches conducted at various locations.
The substances allegedly recovered included methadone and dried marijuana.
The three suspects were arrested as part of an investigation into the illegal acquisition, possession and distribution of narcotics.
The offences carry penalties of up to 20 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment.
