Five people have been confirmed dead following a Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Nikolaev, according to local officials. The attack, which struck residential areas after midnight on Monday, also injured more than 20 people.
Nikolaev Mayor Oleksandr Senkevich and district military head Vitaly Kim reported that several homes and buildings across the city were damaged or destroyed in the strikes. Emergency teams recovered the bodies of five people from the wreckage of a one-story house and a four-story residential building.
Meanwhile, Russian forces also targeted Zaporizhia, where airstrikes hit a two-story house, a dormitory, and a car showroom. One person was killed and nine others injured, Ukraine’s Emergency Situations Service reported.
Both cities were hit as part of what officials have described as a coordinated wave of drone and missile attacks across Ukraine.
