Opposition For Georgia holds ruling party responsible for attack on member

Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the For Georgia party and former Prime Minister, announced that one of his team leaders, Levan Gogichashvili, was assaulted by a group of alleged assailants organized by the ruling party, Georgian Dream. Gakharia shared this information on his Facebook page, asserting that around 20 individuals were involved in the attack.

“If Ivanishvili thinks he can intimidate us or Levan—who has dedicated his life to fighting against the violent regime of the United National Movement—using these brutal tactics, he is gravely mistaken!” Gakharia stated, condemning the actions as politically motivated violence.

Gogichashvili recounted that he had no idea what the assailants wanted from him, describing them as “badly dressed” and appearing to be under the influence of alcohol. In an interview with TV Pirveli, he recounted the incident, saying, “There were many of them, and one of them insulted me, so of course, I responded. A serious fight broke out in the metro car. I never imagined there would be so many. I defended myself as best as I could. The metro likely has footage of the incident, and I demand that it be made public.”

He warned that those leading these groups would also face consequences, particularly referring to Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and leader of the ruling party.

“Ivanishvili needs to understand that he is just a small, insignificant person in this context. You will not succeed, and you will end very badly,” he concluded.
