Giorgi Gakharia, Chairman of the opposition party For Georgia and former Interior Minister stated that he and his team have conceded almost everything possible in ongoing negotiations with opposition Lelo leader Mamuka Khazaradze.
Gakharia expressed optimism that the negotiations would conclude soon.
“This is an ongoing process, and I am hopeful that it will be wrapped up soon. As I mentioned before, there is not much time left. My team and I have conceded practically everything we could, and there are commitments that Khazaradze has undertaken but has not fulfilled. It seems there are difficulties in reaching agreements within his team. However, I am confident that these issues will be resolved and the negotiations will end successfully,” he stated.
Gakharia emphasized that the primary goal of his team is to set a precedent in the country where both the ruling Georgian Dream and the opposition party United National Movement can transition to opposition through elections.
“This is crucial because it will help end the polarization in the country. Our main goal is to prioritize national and state interests above all else, even if it means overlooking our party interests,” he added.
Negotiations between Giorgi Gakharia and Mamuka Khazaradze have been ongoing for several days.
