Khatia Dekanoidze, Deputy Chairwoman of Unity – National Movement, on Tuesday drew a comparison between Georgia’s upcoming elections on Saturday and Moldova’s recent pro-Western victory, declaring that “Russia was defeated in Moldova, and Russia will be defeated in Georgia.”
Dekanoidze stressed her party’s focus is on achieving a “decisive win” on October 26, describing the vote as a “historic opportunity to steer Georgia away from Russian influence”.
In a critique of the ruling Georgian Dream leader Bidzina Ivanishvili, Dekanoidze accused him of prioritizing his personal wealth over the interests of the Georgian people. She asserted his recent public statements were irrelevant to the country’s future, urging voters to rally for a pro-Western course.
