Opposition leader: ”US no longer sees Georgian Gov’t as partner”

The chair of the United National Movement, Tina Bokuchava, has stated that while the United States once viewed Georgia as a partner country and gave its government numerous chances, that patience has now run out.

Bokuchava emphasized that the ongoing public protests in Georgia have already yielded significant results. “These protests have delegitimized the so-called government entirely. Without the people’s protests, we would not have seen such harsh assessments and the subsequent refusal by the international community to recognize this illegitimate government. Such unified positions on the global stage would not have emerged otherwise,” she said.

She further noted that the Georgian government’s failure to align with democratic principles has convinced international allies, including the United States, that restoring relations or returning to the path of European integration is impossible under what she referred to as Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “Russian regime.”

Bokuchava also addressed the potential impact of sanctions. “Ivanishvili and his criminal enterprise disguised as a business cannot withstand sanctions. This so-called business has one last chance to remain a legitimate enterprise rather than a criminal network. This pressure will inevitably bring the changes we are fighting for, and we will continue to stand on Rustaveli Avenue until they are achieved,” she concluded.
