Opposition leader: “Whole world should know Georgia doesn’t recognize recent elections”

Opposition leaders and protesters gathered in Tbilisi on Saturday to denounce recent election results, including Khatia Dekanoidze, Deputy Chair of the National Committee of the United National Movement, calling for international awareness of Georgia’s rejection of the election outcome. Dekanoidze stressed the importance of continued demonstrations to defend the country’s democratic aspirations.

“It is vital that we are here today. We cannot afford to rest or relax. We must remember that Ivanishvili, who is entirely tied to Russia, has stripped Georgian citizens of their will to join the European Union. I urge everyone to come out and recognize that protests, movements, and all forms of civic engagement are essential. The whole world must know that Georgia does not recognize these election results,” Dekanoidze stressed.

The demonstration, organized by opposition parties, included a march toward the Orbeliani Palace, gathering representatives from various political parties and citizens protesting what they call a compromised election process. Organizers expressed their commitment to ongoing protests, stating they would continue to raise awareness about what they allege are violations of democratic principles in Georgia’s electoral system.
