Tina Bokuchava, the Chair of Georgia’s United National Movement, called for decisive international action to support the Georgian people in their pursuit of a European future. Speaking at a joint press conference with European Parliament members in Strasbourg, Bokuchava emphasized the importance of maintaining international policies that reinforce Georgia’s democratic trajectory.
“It is crucial to take strong steps to stand with the Georgian people, who have been fighting for their European future for decades. Their determination has earned Georgia candidate status for EU membership, and abandoning them at this decisive moment is not an option,” Bokuchava said. She underlined that European support is essential for safeguarding Georgia’s trajectory toward integration with Western institutions.
Bokuchava also criticized the aftermath of Georgia’s parliamentary elections, alleging electoral fraud and claiming the results represent a broader betrayal of the Georgian people’s will. She described the manipulation as a “Russian hybrid operation” undermining the nation’s sovereignty and democratic aspirations.
“The stolen elections were not merely a theft from a political party but from every Georgian citizen. This is why the President of Georgia referred to it as a Russian special operation. International support is essential to counteract these forces and sustain Georgia’s European path,” she noted.
In her remarks, Bokuchava urged the international community to preserve existing sanctions and diplomatic policies aimed at addressing democratic backsliding and election integrity in Georgia.
