Parliament Speaker announces “tight schedule” for Autumn session

The autumn session of the Parliament of the 10th convocation is set to commence under a tight schedule, according to Speaker Shalva Papuashvili at Monday’s Bureau session.

“The autumn session starts tomorrow. Although the summer is typically a break period for parliamentary activities, this year is different due to the election cycle. With parliamentary elections scheduled for October 26, our sessions will be condensed to focus on essential issues. This will allow members engaged in pre-election activities to have more opportunities to interact with the public”, Papuashvili said.

During the session from September 3-6, the parliament will review two “key bills”, he said, which included the legislations On Amnesty and On Family Values and Protection of Minors.

Additionally, lawmakers will deliberate on the candidacy of Nikoloz Marsagishvili for the position of Supreme Court judge.
