Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili says that former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia party is affiliated with the opposition United National Movement (UNM). The Speaker claims that Gakharia’s party is composed of former UNM members and is essentially “a UNM project.”
Papuaashvili expressed his astonishment that Gakharia’s party includes notable figures from the UNM, particularly in their electoral list. He pointed out that they have established a coalition in various local governments and are still aligned with a shared agenda.
According to him, Gakharia’s team promises the public that if they gain a majority, they will form a coalition with the UNM.
“When your electoral list is filled with leading figures from the United National Movement and you already have a coalition in the councils with the UNM, it’s clear that if you promise to create a coalition government with them, any remaining doubts about Gakharia should be dismissed. This is simply a typical ‘UNM project’ to mislead the Georgian public,” Papuashvili stated.
