Parliament Speaker: “On October 26 we will celebrate victory of good over evil”

Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of Parliament and a member of the ruling Georgian Dream, called for a celebration of Georgia’s victory of good over evil, faith over godlessness, and Georgian values over foreign influence on October 26. Speaking at the GD final campaign event in Tbilisi, Papuashvili emphasized the importance of unity in defending Georgia’s identity.

He warned of global threats to traditional values, criticizing pseudo-liberalism for undermining religion, identity, and the concept of gender. He emphasized Georgia’s role as a defender of true European values rooted in Christianity.

“Our millennia-old history has been cast aside, religion has been replaced by pseudo-liberalism, and even the concept of gender has been questioned,” Papuashvili stated. He spoke of a “vicious process” threatening Orthodox Christianity and Georgian identity, driven by what he termed false progress.

Reflecting on 2022, Papuashvili noted how the government prevented Georgia from being dragged into war, despite opposition pressure. He urged voters to support the Georgian Dream with a constitutional majority to protect the country from future manipulations and secure peace and stability.

Papuashvili concluded by calling for unity to safeguard the nation’s identity and secure a peaceful future. “On October 26, let us celebrate the victory of good over evil and Georgian over un-Georgian values,” he declared.
