PM Kobakhidze criticizes opposition leader Khazaradze for his 1,000 GEL pension promise

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has criticized opposition party Lelo leader Mamuka Khazaradze, calling his promise of a 1,000 GEL pension deceptive and unrealistic. Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze stated that only a fraudster would make such an offer to the public, pointing out the economic impossibility of delivering on such a commitment.

“Only a fraudster can offer such a promise. Khazaradze has already been recognized by the courts as a fraudster, and now he’s just reinforcing that status,” said Kobakhidze.

He explained that a 1,000 GEL pension would require 10 billion GEL to be allocated from the national budget, which he deems unsustainable. The Prime Minister also criticized Khazaradze’s stance on imposing sanctions on Russia, claiming it would cause a 10% drop in the economy in the first year alone, making any significant pension increase unfeasible.

“In these conditions, to promise a 1,000 GEL pension is nothing but outright fraud,” Kobakhidze concluded.
