Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, speaking to Georgian journalists in Antalya, described sanctions as a modernized form of “dekulakization” and accused the radical opposition of acting as foreign agents.
According to Kobakhidze, members of the radical opposition resemble modern-day Bolsheviks, not only in ideology but also in methods. “It is no surprise that their methods are very similar to those used by the Bolsheviks,” he said.
He added that the opposition’s actions are commissioned attacks against Georgia’s national interests. “This is a hostile attitude toward the country, toward our national interests. There is no other explanation. As you know, about a century ago, ethnic Georgians also acted against our national interests, and it was through them that our independence and sovereignty were undermined. Today, these individuals are continuing that same mission — the mission of Sergo Ordzhonikidze.”
Kobakhidze emphasized that just like the Bolsheviks and later the fascists, today’s opposition uses similar repressive tactics. “One of the main Bolshevik methods was dekulakization. Sanctions are simply a modernized version of that approach. It’s the same signature, the same playbook,” he stated.
He concluded by reiterating his claim that the radical opposition serves foreign interests: “They are foreign agents acting on orders against Georgia’s national interests.”
