PM: President and ex-PM Gilauri uninteresting and irrelevant in terms of politics

In a striking dismissal of former Prime Minister Nika Gilauri and current President Salome Zourabichvili, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has characterized both figures as „uninteresting” and „irrelevant” to the current political discourse. His comments were made during a recent press briefing on Tuesday, following inquiries about a meeting between Gilauri and the President.

Kobakhidze did not hold back, stating that Gilauri was part of a “bloody regime” during his tenure as Prime Minister.

“There’s a saying: ‘You were there, so you did it.’ He was there and played a role in perpetuating the actions of a bloody regime. When he left office, our nation’s economy was under 30 billion GEL, while we have since expanded it to nearly 90 billion GEL. This clearly demonstrates how powerless these individuals have become,” he asserted.

Addressing the President, the Prime Minister noted that she is expected to face impeachment proceedings, which could force her out of office by the end of November or early December.

“This lady is entirely irrelevant; she will be leaving her position due to impeachment within a month,” Kobakhidze stated.

The speculations around Gilauri started after Zourabichvili announced her intention to create a technical government together with the opposition parties ahead of the October 26 elections. She even said she had a PM candidate in mind.
