Polish lawmakers have announced the withdrawal of an invitation to the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s EU Integration Committee for the upcoming Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of the EU (COSAC), scheduled for January 2025.
The decision was made jointly by Agnieszka Pomaska, Chair of the European Affairs Committee in the Polish Sejm, and Tomasz Grodzki, Chairman of the Polish Senate.
“We have decided to revoke this invitation. Representatives of the Georgian authorities have chosen to halt EU integration talks. Meanwhile, the situation for those fighting for democracy on the streets of Georgia continues to worsen. We stand with those defending democracy, freedom, and human rights,” Pomaska stated.
In a strong message of support for Georgia’s pro-European citizens, the statement emphasized: “We send a clear signal—we do not tolerate violations of these values. Georgia deserves its rightful place in our European Community.”
This move comes amid escalating tensions and protests in Georgia, where citizens are demanding democratic reforms and renewed EU integration negotiations.
