Police forces have expanded their operations, entering the office of the activist group movement Nabiji. The news was confirmed by activists Luka Chokhonelidze and Datuna Danelia.
The raid on Movement Nabiji follows a series of searches and crackdowns conducted at the offices of multiple opposition parties and movements earlier today, including those of the United National Movement, Girchi-Droa, and Ahali. Several high-profile figures, including Nika Gvaramia, founder of the Ahali party, and five members of the United National Movement’s youth wing, have also been detained during these actions.
The police’s intensified actions come against the backdrop of widespread protests demanding government accountability, new elections, and expedited European integration. Critics have condemned the operations as an effort to stifle dissent, calling them politically motivated.
Eyewitnesses have reported aggressive detentions during the raids, which have fueled public anger and reinforced opposition accusations of an authoritarian crackdown. Protests in Tbilisi and other cities are expected to escalate as opposition leaders rally supporters against what they describe as a campaign of intimidation by the ruling party.
