President Salome Zourabichvili a has called on Georgians living in Europe and the United States to take a stand against what she described as “ruthless, brutal Russian-style operations” aimed at suppressing free expression in their homeland. In a social media post, Zourabichvili emphasized that silence is no longer an option.
“It’s time to clearly express your position on these events… The silence and pretense that nothing is happening in your homeland cannot continue. Europe is great, but it can’t just be for you alone!” she stated.
The president urged expatriates to voice their concerns through press and media, protests at embassies, or even on social media platforms.
Zourabichvili also invited those who can to return to Georgia and stand with the country during this critical time. However, she clarified that her message does not target those who have already joined protests or demonstrated outside Georgian embassies abroad.
Her remarks come amid growing protests in Georgia following the government’s decision to delay EU accession talks until 2028, prompting widespread criticism and international concern.
