Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili stated during a briefing at the presidential administration that she received assurances during her meetings in European capitals that if political parties fulfill the conditions outlined in the Georgian Charter, the country will return to the stage of opening negotiations for EU membership.
“I traveled to Europe with this charter, met with all responsible parties, and received a commitment that if this is fulfilled to some extent and the political will is there, we will be swiftly brought back to where we should have been – at the doorstep of opening negotiations,” Zourabichvili stated.
With just 14 days remaining before the elections, she expressed confidence that her promises to the Georgian people have been fulfilled. She highlighted the importance of the newly established charter as Georgia’s roadmap towards a European future, distancing the country from its Russian past and ensuring its independence and progress.
Zourabichvili emphasized her meetings with all political parties, obtaining their assurance that they will fully support and implement the charter.
“I am committed to my word, and I am pleased with the parties’ dedication to this process,” she said.
The President also mentioned her intention to form a technical government to guide the country through this crucial phase.
