Prime Minister: Georgian people’s support will shape country’s future

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that Georgia’s future lies in the hands of its people, noting that their collective resilience and commitment to the homeland have been instrumental in overcoming past challenges. He expressed gratitude for the public’s steadfast support and their readiness to ensure peace and development through the upcoming October 26 elections.

“We have been bolstered by the support of the Georgian people, which has been essential in navigating even the most difficult moments. This enduring strength will once again shape our nation’s fate,” Kobakhidze stated during an interview on Imedi TV.

He added that the nation’s commitment to progress and stability, guided by public wisdom and respect for democratic values, has proven crucial in Georgia’s advancement toward its goals.

Reflecting on recent challenges, Kobakhidze pointed to the public’s resilience in maintaining Georgia’s course. He acknowledged the heightened pressure faced by the government to impose sanctions on Russia, a move he argued would have dealt a severe economic blow to Georgia. Kobakhidze contended that maintaining this neutral stance prevented “at least a 10% economic downturn,” preserving stability in a time of international crisis.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted that despite international pressure and calls to send volunteers to the Ukraine conflict, Georgia opted for a position that avoided drawing the country into military engagement.

“While the emotional environment was charged, the Georgian people displayed remarkable wisdom, understanding that maintaining peace and stability was paramount for the country’s prosperity,” Kobakhidze explained.

Kobakhidze concluded by reiterating that the country’s resilience lies in the hands of its citizens, whose voices will determine the next chapter of Georgia’s journey.
