Pro-Ukraine solidarity march held in Tbilisi

A large-scale solidarity march in support of Ukraine is taking place in the central streets of Tbilisi, marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Demonstrators gathered in front of the Ukrainian Embassy at 19:00, before marching towards Rustaveli Avenue and the Georgian Parliament building via Chavchavadze Avenue.

Among the participants are Ukrainians living in Georgia, as well as Georgian citizens expressing their support for Ukraine. Throughout the march, the national anthems of Ukraine, Georgia, and the European Union are being played at intervals.

Protesters are carrying Ukrainian flags inscribed with the names of Georgian fighters who lost their lives in Ukraine’s war. At Melikishvili Avenue, participants also unfurled large Ukrainian and Georgian flags as a symbolic gesture of unity.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, leading to tens of thousands of deaths and displacing millions of Ukrainians.

According to UN-documented data, over 12,600 civilians have been killed and more than 29,000 injured in Ukraine. However, actual numbers are believed to be significantly higher, as there is no accurate information on casualties in Russian-occupied territories.
