Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the Georgian Dream party and leader of the parliamentary majority, has harshly criticized President Salome Zourabichvili following her recent remarks about law enforcement officers. In an interview, Zourabichvili alleged that some police officers deployed during opposition protests on Rustaveli Avenue were under the influence of narcotics.
Mdinaradze described the President’s statement as “disgusting” and deeply troubling, particularly coming from someone previously supported by the Georgian Dream.
“This speaks to something beyond disgusting. It’s deeply painful for us to see someone we supported stoop to this level. With [Mikheil] Saakashvili, such behavior is expected—he’s always been shameless, as his role as a spy demands it. But when it comes from someone who was part of our team, someone we backed, supported, and practically considered one of us, it’s simply revolting,” Mdinaradze said.
