Ruling Georgian Dream is detached from the civilized world, says opposition leader

Khatia Dekanoidze, Deputy Chair of the National Committee of the opposition party United National Movement (UNM), has sharply criticized the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, claiming that it has detached itself from the global civilized community.

In her statement, Dekanoidze pointed to what she sees as increasing political isolation under the leadership of GD founder and Honorary Chair, Ex-Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili since his rise to power in 2012.

“From the very first day that Bidzina Ivanishvili came to power, we have seen an ongoing attempt of isolation,” the opposition MP stated. She went on to suggest that October 26 elections will be a critical day for the Georgian people to express their will, calling it inevitable that the public will reject the current government’s trajectory.

Dekanoidze emphasized that the ruling party is leading the country towards isolation, which she claims is pushing Georgians into emigration, poverty, and fractured families.

“Their interest lies solely in their own well-being, while they sacrifice the people of Georgia,” she added.
