Ruling party MP accuses opposition of “speculating” with killed volunteers in Ukraine

Gia Volski, an MP of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday accused the opposition representatives of using the topic of killed Georgian volunteers in Ukraine for their “narrow, political interests”, as the members of the United National Movement opposition have slammed the Georgian Dream authorities of showing “no reactions” to recent death of five Georgian fighters in Ukraine.

Volski claimed that those politicians who were raising accusations towards the government, had “abandoned” killed servicemembers and civilians on the battlefield during the Russia-Georgia 2008 conflict, when the UNM was in office.

“We are with the people and family members who are mourning with all our heart and soul. Of course, I offer my condolences personally”, Volski said.

Five Georgian volunteers were killed in Ukraine on Saturday, while one more died on Thursday.

Thirty-three Georgian volunteers have been killed in Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities on February 24.
