Mikheil Saakashvili, the currently jailed former President of Georgia, on Friday claimed in his post Russia had enjoyed “no support” in any of the three countries in the South Caucasus, claiming the current Georgian Dream Government, which he labeled pro-Russian, would be unable to “silence” the opposition.
The former official with Ukrainian citizenship noted he would be engaged in “uniting the people” and “attracting the youth”, in a bid to “save himself and the country”.
“The Georgian Dream Government no longer has real ideological supporters. Russia and Ivanishvili [in reference to the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili] are on the wrong side of history. Ukraine will defeat Russia in any case with the help of the West, thus laying the foundation for the process of Russia’s disintegration”, Saakashvili wrote.
He noted Azerbaijan’s restoration of territorial integrity and Armenia’s “open deviation” to the West had disrupted Russia’s main paradigm in the South Caucasus.
“Russia no longer has the support of any people among the three countries of the Caucasus”, he said.
He also highlighted “I myself have learned a lot from my personnel mistakes, I saw well who is who in prison, and I intend to release not only myself, but the whole country from prison”.
